SBCA teamed up with the professional leadership coaching services of Leaders Edge 360 to offer component manufacturers powerful leadership training. Leaders Edge 360 is led by founder Randy Goruk, a seasoned and successful corporate executive, small-business owner, and certified coach, and business partner Bill Bean, a specialist in strategic planning, sales and marketing. The two have over 10 years experience working together and 50 years combined experience in wood products and other industries in the US and Canada. Most of their business experience was with Trus Joist Corporation and part of their tenure was in strategic planning with International Paper Company.

Randy Goruk, President – Partner
WORK HISTORY
Randy GorukRandy is a 26-year veteran of the corporate world, having served in management and leadership positions in Canada and the United States for Trus Joist – A Weyerhaeuser Business, most notably as the President of Trus Joist Canada, and Sr. Vice President of North American Residential Operations, a $750 million business unit.

In these roles, he was accountable for managing business growth and profitability and fine-tuned and implemented his unique personal leadership style (and techniques) that earned him: respect at all levels of the organization, intense trust and loyalty of his direct reports, and the results of exceptional performance. This respect, trust, loyalty and performance was the direct result of:

  • Ensuring that a sound plan was in place to achieve the desired goals
  • Identifying and recruiting the right individuals
  • Properly training those individuals in the details of their technical specialties
  • Transforming those individuals into a well orchestrated, results-oriented team by directing them in a highly motivated, team environment and.
  • Leading by example in the areas of integrity, respect for the associate and the customer and personal life/work balance
  • During this period he personally coached, mentored and developed many of the company’s past, existing and future leaders.

Bill Bean, Senior Vice President – Partner
WORK HISTORY
Bill BeanBill started his professional career in June 1977 with International Paper Company in Strategic Planning in Manhattan. He spent the next 7 1/2 years with IP in NYC, Mobile and Dallas in Strategic Planning, Product Management and as Marketing Manager - Specialty Wood Products.

In 1984, Bill left IP, returned to New England, and began his 16-year tenure with Trus Joist Corporation where he gained experience and success in Sales (Salesman of the Year on two occasions), Sales Management and Marketing Management for North America for Industrial Products based out of MN. Key to this responsibility was strategic and tactical planning to introduce and commercialize the new TJM TIMBERSTRAND® LSL product in door, window and furniture markets. Under his leadership, a strategy and marketing team were developed that successfully commercialized the TIMBERSTRAND® LSL business to annual sales of over $10,000,000 including more than 50 accounts in 13 different market segments throughout the US and Canada.

Bill returned to New England in 1995 as Division Manager - Residential Products for the Northeastern U.S. and all of Canada. That position held responsibility for planning, sales and profitability in a growing division with annualized net sales in excess of $150,000,000.

In May 2000, Bill left Trus Joist (after its purchase by McMillan Bloedel and then Weyerhaeuser Corp), completed a course at Harvard University in eBusiness Distribution, and reoriented his career to the New England-based Technology sector. In July 2004, he accepted the position of V.P. of Business Development with Profile Systems, Inc., a Content Management Software company in West Springfield, MA. Profile was acquired in January 2004 by Comergent Technologies, Inc., a software company headquartered in Silicon Valley (Redwood City, CA). Bill remained with Comergent until January 2006 and during this 5-year period gained experience, credibility and significant market development success in varied markets including Healthcare (with the Department of Defense), the Automotive Aftermarket, and Electrical Supplies.

In January 2006, Bill rejoined Randy Goruk with whom he had worked for 10 years at TJ / Weyerhaeuser as a partner in Leaders Edge 360.
